Where is your core?

Seems like a simple question. It's your 8-pack abs of course! Um, well...not really.

Your core is everything besides your arms, legs, and head as well as the drive and powerhouse for each movement in your body. Strengthening our core results to better posture, improving balance, and creating stronger individuals. The beautiful thing about Pilates is that every movement stems from this powerhouse which makes Pilates the perfect cross-training tool for any type of athlete or non-athlete just trying to combat life!

Not only does Pilates physically strengthen and protect our bodies, but it also brings awareness to our breath. In order to link our breath to our movement we must expand and contract our ribcage. We do that by taking expansive inhales and exhales that lock in the newfound technique and alignment which invites muscle memory.

Now, don't be fooled by the slow and steady movement that Pilates is known for. You'll be surprised of how much sweat drips off your forehead, just as much as you would be on a treadmill!

Not only will you gain definition in your abs but you will also gain awareness of your breath and movement synchronicity. So what are you waiting for? Get up and get movin'!
