Stay Present

"If only I didn't have that piece of cake today."
"I wonder what I'll make for dinner tonight..."
"I need to be healthier"
"That reminds me, I forgot to pick up my package at the post office!"
"So much traffic, wish I didn't need to deal with these pricks on the road."
All of these statements are taking away from being fully present in life, which unfortunately is easy to default to now a days. We are set to autopilot on a daily basis trying to get from one destination to the other without even giving the journy a second thought.
Give this a try, stay where your feet are. When you're are the park, put your phone down and look up into the sky, smell the freshly cut grass, listen to the bird chirping. When you're walking down a hall way, smile to the person passing by you. If your child stops to smell flowers, wait till they're done.
Making little efforts day by day will eventually result to huge changes in the future. Ever crossed paths with someone who just seems "fully present?" Not just by occupying space, but with how they manage the air around them. You can tell by the way they make full eye contact, actively listen, and their ability to make you feel heard. There is something different and elusive about people like that

which is utterly captivating.
It was once said "Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift and that's why it's called the present."
So next time life gets in the way stop, breath, and enjoy the journey rather than the destination.
